Skills Programs
These programs consist of 6 weeks of skill development. Basic knowledge of the sports will be taught. Participants can expect to work through drills pertaining to each respective sport. Coaches will focus on improving skills and challenging participants to push themselves to new heights in their sport.
All Skills Program classes will be 45 minutes in length and take place at the Tri-County YMCA main facility on Friday evenings.
Basketball
Beginner (ages 4-6) in Gym 1 at 5:30pm
Intermediate (ages 7-9) in Gym 1 at 6:30pm
Challenge (ages 10-12) in Gym 1 at 7:30
Soccer
Beginner (ages 4-6) in Gym 1 at 6:30pm
Intermediate (ages 7-9) in Gym 1 at 5:30pm
Challenge (ages 10-12) in Gym 1 at 7:30
Challenge Class: ONLY for those who are well experienced in their sport. The skills of these athletes will be challenged through more intense drill workouts and conditioning.
Y-Winners Indoor Soccer
This 7-week league for children ages 4-12 focuses on the fundamentals of the game through fair play and sportsmanship. Team practices and games will be held weekly at the YMCA gymnasium and all participants will receive a shirt and season ending award.
Y-Winners Outdoor Soccer
This 7-week league for children ages 4-12 focuses on the fundamentals of the game, fair play, and sportsmanship. Team practices and games will be held weekly at the YMCA Camp High-Tor facility. Each player will receive a shirt and season ending award. Games will be played on Friday evenings or Saturdays depending on number of participants.
Y-Winners Basketball
The YMCA promises to offer a great introductory, skill-building league for children in grades K-5. There will be weekly practices and games every Saturday for 7 weeks. This league is a great way to learn the fundamentals of the game as well as fair play and sportsmanship.
Fall Flag Football
This 7-week league will focus on fair play and sportsmanship as well as the basic fundamentals of the game for youth ages 6-14. Each player will receive a jersey and a season ending award. This 5-on-5 program is for both boys and girls with small team sizes. All games and one weekly practice will take place at the YMCA Camp High-Tor facility. Games will be played on Saturday mornings/afternoons.
Martial Arts
Traditional and Olympic styles of Tae Kwon Do will be offered twice a week throughout the year in the gymnasium at the Main Facility. Class size is limited. Ages 5+. Instructor Larry D'Alessio is a 6th degree black belt and two time national champion with over 28 years experience in Tae Kwon Do.
Youth Dance
Enhance your child's confidence and self-expression through dance. A combination dance class including ballet, tap and jazz will be offered for children ages 4-8. A ballet, tap, and jazz/hip-hop class will be offered for children ages 9-14. All classes will take place at the Camp High-Tor Lodge.
T-Ball
The basic skills of hitting, throwing, catching, and base running will be emphasized. This league for 4 to 6 year olds will take place at the Camp High-Tor facility. Practices will be weekly and all games will be played on Saturdays.
Coach Pitch Baseball
The skills learned to this point will be further developed with a more challenging league. This league for 7 to 10 year olds will take place at the Camp High-Tor facility. Practices will be weekly and all games will be played on Saturdays.
Home School Physical Education
This program is designed to provide home school students with quality physical education. Students will participate in activities which emphasize the YMCA youth sports philosophy of “Everybody plays…. Everybody Wins!” This is a structured program which allows youth to learn and develop skills while having fun. This includes basketball, soccer, football, baseball, and swimming. Tuesdays and Thursdays-2:00pm-3:00pm (K-5) 3:00pm-4:00pm (6-8)
