Inclement Weather (Snow, Ice, Thunderstorms)
“If for ANY REASON you believe your safety would be compromised, DO NOT attempt to travel to the Tri-County YMCA for Swimming Practice during periods of inclement weather!!”


1. If School has been “let out early” in Putnam County due to snow/ice/bad travel conditions and there is NOT a WV declared State of Emergency…The Tri-County YMCA will conduct a modified practice schedule. Jr. Varsity and Varsity will practice from 4:30pm – 5:15pm and Zone/National will practice from 5:15pm – 6:40pm with NO DRYLANDS!! Coaches who live close to the pool MAY be the coaches conducting practice but we will conduct the practice!!!

2. If School is cancelled in Putnam County because of Snow on a day that morning practice is conducted there will be NO MORNING PRACTICE that day. If school has not been cancelled but conditions are poor to bad in terms of travel or you may just think school will be called off, PLEASE call or text message Coach Tom at 304-389-5111, AFTER 5:05AM! The authority to conduct morning practice or cancel it due to bad weather will be his on such days!!!

3. If school is cancelled in Putnam County due to snow/Ice, the Tri-County YMCA will conduct the modified practice schedule as described in Number 1 above. Jr. Varsity and Varsity will practice from 4:30pm – 5:15pm and Zone/National will practice from 5:15pm – 6:40pm with NO DRYLANDS!!

4. If FOR ANY REASON there is a DECLARED STATE OF EMERGENCY, there will be NO PRACTICE that day at the YMCA and there will be no practice until the State of Emergency is lifted!!! If the State of Emergency is lifted three hours prior to the start of the modified swimming schedule Please Call the YMCA to see if they will be open. If they will open we will hold practice following the modified scheduled described in Number 1 and 3 above.

5. It is the YMCA’s policy that the pool must be cleared for a minimum of 30 minutes when lightening is noticed or thunder is heard outside of the facility. Additional wait time may occur with long term thunderstorms when thunder and lightening are slow to move away from the area. The swim teams WILL NOT, under any circumstance, violate this policy that is in place at the YMCA. You have the option to wait for the storm to pass or you may leave with NO adverse action on your attendance. Practice will
