Dr. Aaron Settle, ATC, CSCS
Head Coach
Coach Settle enjoyed the sport of competitive swimming for 13 years as a child. He swam for the year-around swimming program in Charleston, WV known as HYCAT, formally known as GCSA (Greater Charleston Swimming Association) then Sun Aquatics (SUN), then University of Charleston Aquatic Team (UCAT). Coach Settle started coaching in 1989 with his local summer swim league team. He has since served as the Head Swimming Coach for George Washington High School, Head Coach for the University of Charleston, The Head Developmental Age Group Coach, The Head Age Group Coach and The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Assistant National Team Coach for the HYCAT Swimming Program in Charleston, WV and now as the Head Coach and Founder of the Wild Waves Swimming Program at the Tri-County YMCA. Coach Settle holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training (95) and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education (96) from the University of Charleston in West Virginia. He holds a Master of Science Degree (2000) in Exercise Physiology from Marshall University in Huntington, WV and a Doctorate of Sports Management (2005) from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama. Coach Settle is certified to teach K-12 physical education and Health education in 30 states besides WV and is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), the National Athletic Trainers’ Association as a Nationally Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and is a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT-B). In addition to his coaching at the Tri-County YMCA, Coach Settle is a tenured Associate Professor of Exercise Science and Biomechanics at West Virginia State University. Coach Settle is a certified swimming coach by USA Swimming and is an ASCA (American Swimming Coaches Association) Level 4 Coach. Coach Settle lives in St. Albans with his wife Cindi and their blended family Alex, Camryn, Rhiannon, Launa and Maddie.
Dr. Tom Rittinger, MD
Assistant Age Group Coach
Coach Rittinger brings a wealth of knowledge to the Wild Waves Swimming Program as he serves as an assistant coach, entry chairman and team physician. Coach Rittinger is certified as a USA Swimming Coach and is currently working his way through the ASCA (American Swimming Coaches Association) schools. He is also in charge of swimming research and film analysis with the Wild Waves Swimming Program. Coach Rittinger has experience working with Olympic coaches in Florida where he attends annual swimming camps. He also serves as the Wild Waves stroke technician. Coach Rittinger primarily works with the Zone/National Team and conducts the morning workout program for the Wild Waves Swimming Program. Coach Rittinger Holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a Minor in Psychology from Marshall University and a Doctorate of Medicine From the Marshall University School of Medicine. In addition to his coaching, he serves as a Hospitalist for CAMC Teays Valley Hospital and Emergency Room. Coach Rittinger lives in Teays Valley with his wife Aimee and his daughter Alyssa and son Noah.

Jodie Davis
Assistant Age Group Coach
Coach Davis brings a unique ability to communicate with and motivate young children in the sport of swimming. She has taught swimming since 1993 while living in Morgantown, WV. She coached with the Tri-County YMCA prior to the development and finding of the competitive swim program in the Tri-county YMCA’s “Developmental Swimming Program”. Coach Davis is a USA and YMCA Certified Coach and is currently working her way through the ASCA (American Swimming Coaches Association) schools. Coach Davis serves as a program administrator and liaison to the Wild Waves Parent Community and is primarily responsible for our beginning Junior Varsity Swimming Program. Coach Davis is a home school parent and a part-time student at Marshall University majoring in psychology. Coach Davis resides in Teays Valley with her husband, Bill, and her children, River and Navy.
Nick Chapman
Assistant Age Group Coach
Coach Chapman has been coaching with the Wild Waves Swim Team since its beginning. Coach Chapman is currently a registered USA Swimming Coach and is working his way through the ASCA (American Swimming Coaches Association) schools. Coach Chapman primarily works with the Jr. Varsity, Varsity and Dryland Programs. In addition, Coach Chapman is an undergraduate student at Marshall University studying business and is also a certified personal trainer. He brings unique, sports specific regimens to the Wild Waves Dryland Program. In addition to his coaching duties, Coach Chapman is a certified agent for Old Colony. Coach Chapman resides in Milton, WV.
