INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

During thunder and/or lightening storms, it is the policy of the Tri-County YMCA to close the pool for a period of 30 minutes when lightening is noticed or thunder is heard outside of the facility. Additional wait time may occur with long term storms, when thunder and lightening are slow to move away from the area.

The safety of our members and guests is a high priority. Because of this and the fact that electrical charges have been known to traverse indoor spaces, particularly wet areas, it is the policy of the Tri-County YMCA to close the pool area during thunderstorms.

Once the storm has diminished, and the 30 minute waiting period has passed, members and guests will be permitted to re-enter the pool area. Swimming and programs will resume at that time. Please keep in mind that programs may be cancelled, due to the inclement weather, so any make-ups will be at the discretion of the instructor.

When the Putnam County Board of Education closes schools or issues a two hour delay the Tri-County YMCA will only hold classes in our Aquatics Center that begin on or after 4:00pm that day. Wild waves will still operate under their inclement weather policy (please see website for details).

In the event of Putnam County schools closing or when a two hour delay is issued the times that are normally closed for these programs will be open for recreational swimming in both pools that is open to all swimmers (we will not have adult swim on these days).
